Mark your calendars: Between July 27-29 we all get to take a break from our day-to-day work and spend time planning and executing the Fiverr features of tomorrow!

At Fiverr, we believe that innovation comes from all sides of the team. No matter your role or background, EVERYONE can submit ideas, build a team and win. Back-to-Hack is your chance to think outside the box, bring your ideas to life and make Fiverr better!

A Fiverr
Hackathon

How it works

How it
works.

Step 1: FEATURES SUBMISSION

Use this spreadsheet to submit and describe your idea. Bear in mind that your idea must be doable in the given timeframe - fully functional, using mock-data, or a working prototype. Last day to submit ideas: July 16th

Step 4: EXECUTION

You'll have 2.5 days to execute your idea, during which we will take care of your every need so that you can focus on your feature. That sure means PIZZA for everyone - BUT so much more!

Step 2: EVALUATION

A dedicated committee of R&D, Product and Design leaders will look into your ideas and select the top 15 features based on impact, value, and effort. Even if your idea wasn't selected, that doesn't mean you can't join another project and compete.

Step 3: BUILDING YOUR TEAM

If your idea made the selection, this is your time to pitch your idea to fellow Fiverrs and start assembling your team. Note that since developers are a limited resource, your team can have up to 4 BE devs and up to 2 FE dev. We celebrate diversity, so no more than two devs from the same team.

Step 5: PRESENTATIONS

Time to present your feature. As always, we suggest to invest in your presentation and work with Fiverr sellers to convey your message in the best way. Every competing team will be credited with $200 on fiverr to complete their presentations.

Step 6: VOTING TIME

Rate all features with regard to Fiverr’s 3 pillars of growth in 2021: Going upmarket, Making Fiverr a habit, and driving conversion. The winning feature will be considered for production, and the winning team will be awarded with a special prize!

FAQ.

Q: Is it mandatory?

A: Participation isn't mandatory, but is highly encouraged. During the hackathon all teams take a break from their roadmaps so you won't be able to get a lot done anyways... Don't miss out on a chance to make an impact and promote ideas you care about.

Q: Is it only for fiverr.com (production) features?

A: Not at all. The Hackathon is your opportunity to initiate any type of project you think can bring value to Fiverr users or help optimize internal processes. Back-office tools, big analyses or creative campaigns are definitely welcome and encouraged.

Q: Is it happening at the same time in all offices? How does it work with the time differences?

A: The Hackathon will take place between Tuesday to Thursday, with the TLV and Europe offices beginning Tuesday afternoon and US offices beginning Tuesday morning. We will publish the full schedule closer to the event.

Q: Is it just for new features?

A: Generally, yes. You can definitely build on top of existing features, but this Hackathon is not about maintenance work of existing flows, it's about inventing something new.

Q: Must I complete the entire feature for it to qualify for the contest?

A: Yes, features must be demonstrable at the end of the contest. Fully functional products will be ranked higher than design mockups, so you want to make sure your idea is doable within the allocated timeframe. Let our Product Managers help you estimate the time and effort.

Q: Will all the features end up in production?

A: Not necessarily. The winning feature is guaranteed to end up in production. Others may or may not get to production, based on value, resources and quality of execution.
